A hunter in Preston, Idaho tracked down a mountain lion that had attacked a dog. When he shot and killed the creature he found that it was not a normal mountain lion at all, but what experts are calling a biological mystery.
According Idaho Fish and Game and the photos they released the mountain lion appeared to have horns that are actually a set of teeth and whiskers coming out of the top of its head. Officials say they have never seen a deformity like this and offered up a few explanations.
One explanation is that the teeth were part of a conjoined twin that detached before or after birth. Another theory is that it could be a tumor of some sort.
It is worth noting that many Native American legends speak of horned panthers. Could this phenomena be something that has been observed by Native Americans before?
